Boston Week 2

I've now been in Boston for a little over a week. Working for 7 days, exploring and shopping 1 day, and sleeping for 1 day. All in all a pretty good start to a new home city, I think. I wouldn't want to see all there is to see or visit all the places there are to visit too quickly, or else I won't have anything to do for the rest of my time here, right?

Getting to work is pretty easy already. Walk to Davis Square. Board the T. Try to find a seat so I won't be standing for 30 minutes. Probably wind up standing for 30 minutes. Get off the T. Walk to work. I'm still very obviously a newbie to the public transportation system when I ride the T. Most people shut their eyes and listen to their ipods or read some sort of newspaper or book. Not me. I look at all the people in the car, which is kind of strange, I guess, in a city where everyone rides public transportation, but I'm from Tucson and still in awe of public transportation.

But I do have a favorite part of the commute. When the red line comes out of the ground at MGH and passes over the river, you can see two different Boston skylines overlooking the water out of both sides of the cab. That's my favorite part. The skylines are so cool. It reminds me that I'm really in a different place. Even when its kind of dreary outside, like it was today, the views are really really cool.

My job is super fun. I get to design scavenger hunts for people to play all day. Well, I also try to get schools to use these games for their campus activities, but mostly I'm just telling them about the coolest thing ever... so its fun. In the office we have flying monkeys, skateboards, strange coffee makers, and cubicles called "the forge", "lunar base", and "cell block D". You couldn't ask for a more awesome place to work.
